Woman’s Missionary Union

Who are we?
Woman’s Missionary Union of the Greater Gaston Baptist Association is a mission’s organization whose purpose is to challenge, prepare and equip Christian believers to be radically involved in the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

As the Woman’s Missionary Union of the GGBA . . .

  • We recognize and value the abilities of each person and encourage them to use their spiritual gifts and personal passions to make a difference in their church and community.

  • We serve as a missions education resource for ALL churches of the GGBA.

  • We challenge Ladies to establish a relationship with God and create bonds with other believers in order to proclaim the Good News to the ends of the earth.

  • We recognize prayer as the basis and intentional strategy for the work of the organization and individual believer. Through consistent conversation with God, believers discover His intricate purpose for life, take steps to disciple others and assist others serving throughout the world.

  • Encourages all believers, whether members of the organization or not, to be a part of the fulfilling of the Great Commission.

We will try to:

  • Build relationships with the associational churches, pastors, and Ladies through inspirational and training events

  • Provide mission opportunities for all age-level organizations.

  • Seek to improve and strengthen existing organizations and begin new organizations where needed.

  • Encourage churches to involve the whole congregation in missions.

Missions work may be done by the entire church in churchwide emphases and activities and it may be done through the age-level organizations:

  • Preschoolers: Mission Friends (boys and girls birth through pre-first grade)

  • Children: Girls in Action/Children in Action (boys and girls  grades 1-6)

  • Youth: Acteens/Youth on Mission (boys and girls grades 7-12)

  • Students: Missions Interchange (Undergraduate Collegiate Women)

  • Adults: Women on Mission (adult women ages 18 up), Adults on Mission (adult men and women ages 18 up), MyMission (an internet approach for young women in their 20s and 30s) and Sisters Who Care (Women on Mission for African-American women)

  • Families on Mission: WMU’s approach to involving families with preschoolers, children, and teenagers in missions
